The Evil Koch Brothers.

Who the heck are they and why's the left suddenly so obsessed with thse guys? I never heard of them till recently. So, I found these two little tid bits.
Quote:
Understand, the Left has nothing against rich people participating in politics. Most rich people who are politically active are liberals, and the Democratic Party gets much more of its support from the wealthy than the GOP. George Soros is only the most famous of a battalion of sugar daddies who fund every left-wing cause. But the Left wants a monopoly. They want wealthy people to be barred from political participation unless they toe the liberal line. Hence their increasingly vicious attacks on the Koch brothers; they are trying to make an example of them.

I wrote last night about a story in the New York Times by Eric Lipton that tried to convey the impression that the current turmoil in Wisconsin is all about the Koch brothers, even though they are from Kansas and the $43,000 contribution by the Koch Industries PAC that has the Left riled up represented a whopping one-tenth of one percent of the money spent on Wisconsin's 2010 gubernatorial campaign.

They also give lots of money to the Cato Institute and the Reason Foundation, as well as charities and even support Ballet.

Now I have a better idea why the left wants to demonize them, other than the fact that there it's there in rule 12 from the Alinsky playbook.

It has been the fault of both pacifism and liberalism in the past that they have ignored the immense burden of inherited evil under which society and civilization labour and have planned an imaginary world for an impossible humanity. We must recognize that we are living in an imperfect world in which human and superhuman forces of evil are at work and so long as those forces affect the political behaviour of mankind there can be no hope of abiding peace.

I knew I heard that name before: They are involved in philanthropy in the Topeka area IIRC.

People should hate Phred Phelps instead, he's a sack of shit.

The Koch brothers have a long history of extremist politics dating from their daddy who was a founder of the John Birch Society.

They like to meet with the other wealthy supporters of Tea Party Express, FreedomWorks and such to plot the end of unions, the stripping of the middle class of assets and their political stooges, such as Eric Cantor.

It would seem that all political parties in this country are hell bent to eliminate the middle class. Just like politics, there will only be two classes, the very, very poor and the super rich.
I can see where this is going, and thats a very ugly, bad place.

dabs,

I'm sure everyone on here is more informed politically than I, so please inform me personally what your issues with the JBS are. I worked for the Koch Bros for some 15 years before I went back to my roots in farming, and never worked for a better bunch of guys.

Here is first line in a JBS lookup I found. "The John Birch Society (JBS) is a conservative U.S. organization that was founded in California in 1958 to fight the threat of Communism" They also promote limited government interference, yadda yadda. Where is the evil? Is it that there would be little if any need or employment for crooked fraudulent lawyers anymore?

just askin'

I think the "They also promote limited government interference" is enough for the left to hate them.

"The Minutemen. Robert DePugh, founded the Minutemen in 1961. DePugh was a member of the John Birch Society..."

And: "Now the John Birch Society was a co-sponsor at CPAC..."

Then why didn't you clue us in about them before the rest of the Daily Kos minions got their marching orders to blame the Koch brothers for everything from the Wisconsin legislation to the fact that there is a Baskin Robbins out there with only 30 flavors?

Oh, that's right. Kos gave you the order, so now you drop the names.

Meh. You could at least be a proactive lefty. A reactionary lefty is not nearly so fun.

Know them both, and both are great patriots who love their country. Each day we should thank the Lord that there are still people willing to put their fortunes on the line for this great country. Also, believe me when I tell you they have paid a tremendous personal price, beyond any monetary value, for their activism.

I guess that's extremist, all right. That is, if you're a mentally-ill hack lawyer.
Zing!

People who were filthy rich and wanted to continue being filthy rich did not live in Socialist countries of state granted privileges.
Controlling the bourgeois class is to control burgeoning or as we call it growth,,, a Marxist imperative

He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.
Isn't that the school where Obama lectured?

Veteran psychiatrist calls liberals mentally ill
Publishes extensive study on 'Psychological Causes of Political Madness'

"WASHINGTON – Just when liberals thought it was safe to start identifying themselves as such, an acclaimed, veteran psychiatrist is making the case that the ideology motivating them is actually a mental disorder.

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."

While political activists on the other side of the spectrum have made similar observations, Rossiter boasts professional credentials and a life virtually free of activism and links to "the vast right-wing conspiracy."

For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.

Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by both Barack Obama and his Democratic primary opponent Hillary Clinton can only be understood as a psychological disorder."
