G17 Light

Due to the heat down here, I'm rucking more and more at night in the woods. I am going to need a light for my G17. It needs to be a bit slim for the holster I am currently using (Condor, it's cheap but serves my purposes). The biggest threat we've encountered so far has been the coyotes following us around. We occasionally come across a copperhead or rattle snake. Everly lets me know whenever there is any threat. I definitely do not want to cheap out or get something too expensive I won't worry about getting bashed around a bit.
The GLTII Glock light is on the short list so far. Hazard fright has one but I don't know anyone that actually uses it. The light will only get mounted when we hit the woods at night.

Night vision goggles would be great, but where is the challenge of navigating in the woods at night??

Any suggestions?

Stream light TLR-1, but the Shurefire fanboys will poo poo it. Most holsters cut for a light have the retention built around the light instead of the trigger guard so you’ll likely need a new one.

Carry a second flashlight for 99.9% of your flashlight needs.

It’s not cool to point a pistol at anything just for identification.

All the $75+ weapon oriented aluminum flashlights are good. Basically need to decide whether you want a big one or a little one. Then buy the right holster.

And make sure the GLOCK still works properly with the light installed. Apparently, I’m a limp-wrist faggot, and I can make a GLOCK malfunction if I put a light on it. I’m just about at the point where I’m gonna carry two J-frames and two (counterfeit) Spyderco CIVILIAN knives instead of any modern-tactical. My plan is to run at the threat, yelling “I’M GONNA EAT YOUR ASS!!!,” and bury one of the J’s in his middle.

I hope it will buy me time to run. Except I can’t run anymore. That’s why the plan contemplates I will still have 5-more-for-sure, and two knives.

I do carry an extra light and I don't use my pistol as a flash light.
Reason for a light is we had two coyotes following us one night. I had my hands full with a light in one hand and restraining my dog at the same time.

I was going to suggest any one of many alternatives, thinking you meant Glock's old plastic pistol light, I was unaware they had come out with something much nicer. That newer one looks sharp, when did it come out?

How well do Glock lights work? I've never heard feedback either way.

TLR-1HL. I can clearly see along my quarter mile fence lines with mine.
