Thought this recent acquisition might be interesting with the recent Sig 542/543 imports. This is a factory scope and mount for the .223 Sig 540 series of rifles. Hensoldt Type 1, with .223 cam and marked SIG 540. Not many made, and even less made it into the USA.
As you can see it uses the Swiss style “tightened wedge” mount. The front of the mount slots into a self centering wedge machined into the top of the front trunnion. The rear threaded ”spear” is tightened, turnbuckle style, into a divot in the front of the rear sight assembly. Tension keeps the mount tight.
My Sig 543 is out for build now, and although probably overkill for an SBR, should look pretty cool on top, and is a nice accessory.
