Thoughts on Cetme LC kits?

I guess when you are the only game in town, you can charge whatever the market will bear if you can provide a quality product. Maybe another company already building CETME type receivers will step up. Maybe someone like PTR. I don’t know if the market is there for another company to justify tooling up for these though.

For small markets, the costs to the consumer will always be high. I'm of the opinion that I'm willing to pay what it takes to get intelligent people to figure this stuff out and bring it to market. Marcolmar has always produced top quality products and I REALLY value that as that commitment to quality has been visibly lacking with many FAL parts companies. I think CFS and APEX both do a very good job as retailers in this market and I'm very hopeful that the joint effort between MCM and CFS will yield more buildable kits for all of us. Buy the kits, stack them deep, let the vendors know there are kits out there to be built and they will produce the stuff we need to build them.

Well, OK. Perhaps you can tell us where all the CETME L/LC builders are. You built one, good for you. I'm doing 4 and considering all the OTHER stuff lined up (CETME Cs/G3s, X39 FALs, 223 FALs, Libyan FAL, Rhodie para to name a few) I'd be much happier with the snap together model kit, thank you. I envy the people that have the time to tinker with one thing at a time. I want the MCM build kits so I can build these and get on to the next thing.

That’s long gone I already asked. I’m having some made that are close too Malcomarsbut I’m also doing one where they’ll accept a 1/2 x 28 for muzzle breaks but also for suppressors.

I’m considering chopping the front section of one of my Cetme C barrels along with the front portion of the triple clamp, and using it to make my own barrel extension. I’ll just have to pin & weld the components together, bore & thread it to fit, and pin & weld it to my barrel.

I believe they are out there, as private citizens. As you well know previous administrations came down hard on manufacturers, especially small timers . My point about the flats this, making a flat is relatively simple, fast, and inexpensive compared to folding and followup quality checks. Those require additional techs and time which costs money. Flats are a quick means to an influx of capital to be used for expansion.

And even though I posted differently above, I couldn't wait and ordered the bent receiver just posted for sale. Still requires fitting, welding, and finishing so a builder does not have to wait for a jig to make the rounds to the next guy in line. And the pricing was comparable to flat purchase price and jig rental cost, so it saves me time and some money.

Yeah waiting for the jig is a whole damn thing. My card got hit weeks ago and I have zero idea on when I might see the jig. I did see the parts drop last night though, that’s a good thing.

I’ll add that the CETME Cs I have running from flats are wildly satisfying to run. A lot goes into making a flat project run and it’s super cool when they do. I’m just expecting the MCM flats to be a little higher quality than the present batch of CETME C/G3 flats.

Don't have any C models, just HK (POF) clone. But my L model runs like a sewing machine. During my break in using steel cased 55 grain ammo (recommended by the innerweb), it ran like a sewing machine. 4 different shooters were able to hit clays fron 25 to 100 yards with an EoTech on the rail. On the switch over to brass cased ammo, the recoil impulse calmed down and made it a sweet shooter. Hopefully, the LC models turn out the same way. I do plan on can for this one, just to tame the muzzle blast.

I managed to get one of my two stocks apart without damage. The stock that came with my kit was bent so they sent me a replacement.
I’ll make one good stock out of the parts from both.

If I had the stamping die for the flats on these cetme LC and cetme, and hkg3/91 stuff I'd be set . That's where the money is. In the stamping. I usually run 40k parts on avg per day. That flat would have to be ran slower so probably could make 8k flats a day in automatic progressive die . Gotta have the die and a press to run it in though. That cost alot. I havent seen the die that runs the flats but I doubt it's a single stamp die.

I want to say it was Wolf or Barnual 5.56. LGS had a bunch stocked for the 5.56 Century WASR AK's they had on the racks. The innerweb said to shoot 100-150 rounds of steel cased as break-in to polish the chambers of the US made fluted barrels. Accuracy and fouling was attrocious, but functioned perfectly.

Steel .223 seems to still be readily available, but priced so close if not the same or even more at times then brass that its not really worth it in my opinion. Steel .308 seemed to vanish the day the russian ammo ban went into affect.
I never quite understood it honestly, x39 and 54r was still readily available for quite some time after and still is. But the .308 disappeared, I cant imagine it had been that poor of a seller that no one managed to sneak in one last container before the form 6s ran out.

Centerfire has bent receiver shells in stock. I ordered one since flats are unobtainable right now. These are really cool kits.
